Damian

Damian was born into the lush wilderness of New Zealand and spent most of his life travelling around its wondrous landscape. Growing up in a country with such rich beauty, it was only natural for him to gain an interest in exploring its wonders. It also allowed him to cultivate his passion for the great outdoors and the secrets it contains.

Damian has always been a keen athlete - after an unpromising start ("I was the podgy kid at school that was always picked last for any sports team") he discovered Hockey in his teens and went on to represent at a national level.

Leaving school at seventeen, Damian joined with the Royal New Zealand Army. A three year stint made him aware that his love for countryside was not easily set aside and he set out to find what the rest of the world had to offer.

The outdoors became more than a hobby, soon becoming a passion, and when not walking through the natural wonders of the bush or reaching the peaks of those mountains, he was running races around them. Working his way around, Damian spent time as a Bush craft, Firearms and First Aid instructor with the New Zealand Mountain Safety Council, and doing Search and Rescue, before heading over the pond and into Australia pursuing his IT career.

During his thirteen years in the IT industry and a simultaneous ten years of security work, Damian has spent his spare time with sky diving, coaching & playing goal keeper for hockey and the love of being in the air. Damian is not the type of person to be daunted by any task both physical and mental.

Damian still has his sights set firmly on the outdoors. Mount Everest and the Antarctica still tease his dreams and make him hungry for the adventure that one can only find when pitting his body and mind against Mother Nature’s beauty, as well as her fury.
